Lobstapus / Lobstapussy

Lobstapus/Lobstapussy, 2013
Single channel video, runtime: 18:26 minutes

Lobstapus/Lobstapussy
was made on residency on the uninhabited Greek island Meropi, starring an all-Greek lobsta and octopus cast. Invited by visual artist Theodoros Zafeiropoulos, Goyette became the only American artist invited to take part in Offshore Project, set up as a social experiment of “Utopia” during the economic crisis in Greece. Philosophers, political theorists, architects, designers, visual artists and musicians were invited to exist together, camping on the island, to facilitate a creative exchange and the manifestation of alternative economic collaboration. Rebecca Goyette took on the role of the “pushy American” on Meropi Island, to create a travel sex film in the vein of American television classic Gilligan’s Island with Lobsta Girl representing the quintessential “Ginger” hypersexed movie star. Lobsta Girl voyaged, hoping to explore hot Greek lobsta men in double dick speedos, instead fell for an eight-dicked Octopus stud, and came home to New York City pregnant. Giving birth to a lobstapus baby, aided by bisexual doulas performing orgasmic water birth in a buttah bath, Lobsta Girl reminisced on her Greek lobsta and octopus erotic Odyssey.
